Insurance Verification
To take jobs on Mechanix Onsite, you must carry your own active commercial insurance and name Mechanix Onsite as an additional insured. This protects you, your customers, and the platform. You'll upload the documents below in the app — we'll verify them before activating your account.
1. What every mechanic must submit at signup
Your application is not approved until all of the following are uploaded and verified:
Certificate of Insurance (COI)
Your current Certificate of Insurance — the ACORD 25 form. It must list Mechanix Onsite as the Certificate Holder and as an Additional Insured.
Additional Insured endorsement
The actual policy endorsement page that names Mechanix Onsite as an Additional Insured. A COI alone does not grant coverage — this is the document that does. We accept any of:
- CG 20 10 (ongoing operations), and/or
- CG 20 37 (completed operations), or
- CG 20 33 / CG 20 38 (blanket additional insured — preferred, covers you automatically).
Waiver of Subrogation endorsement
Typically CG 24 04. Without this, your insurer can pay a claim and then sue Mechanix Onsite to get it back.
Commercial Auto coverage (if you drive to job sites)
Shown on the COI, with Mechanix Onsite as additional insured where available.
Garagekeepers / Garage Liability (if you take custody of customer vehicles)
Required where you take possession of a customer's vehicle to perform work.
2. What the documents must show
- Named insured = your legal business name (must match your signup name).
- Certificate Holder = Mechanix Onsite.
- Additional Insured = Mechanix Onsite (must appear in the description box and be backed by the endorsement page).
- General Liability limits of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate.
- Policy effective + expiration dates — the policy must be currently active.
- Waiver of subrogation in favor of Mechanix Onsite.
3. Minimum requirements
Your policy must include:
- General Liability of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate
- Mechanix Onsite named as Additional Insured (with endorsement)
- Waiver of Subrogation in favor of Mechanix Onsite
- A current, active policy period
All uploads accept PDF, JPG, or PNG files up to 10 MB.
4. What you agree to at submission
Before submitting, you'll confirm each of the following in the app:
5. Verification, status & renewals
While we review
Once your documents are received, we verify your insurance before you can accept jobs (usually within a few hours). You can't reach the job-acceptance screen until your status is Verified.
When you're verified
You're active, and your coverage is on file through your policy's expiration date.
Renewals
We store your policy's expiration date and send renewal reminders at 30, 14, and 3 days before it expires. When a policy expires, job access is suspended automatically until you upload a renewal, which re-triggers verification.
If we can't verify
We'll tell you exactly what's missing — for example, the certificate doesn't name Mechanix Onsite as an Additional Insured, the endorsement page is missing, the policy is expired or not yet effective, the General Liability limit is below the minimum, or there's no Waiver of Subrogation — so you can correct it and re-upload.
